I actually got out for an hour today, which made a nice change after yesterday’s mini break. It was quite blustery so I got fewer decent photos than I’d have liked. First off, let’s go with the insects, as always.
For weeks I’ve been calling these next fellows Dragonflies but in fact they are Damselflies.
When I got back and looked at the photos on my screen I was convinced that the eye was out of focus. That was until I searched for other photos of damselflies and discovered that that is what some of their eyes look like – phew.
The next photo is using the ‘Pin Hole’ scene mode on my Panasonic TZ10 and then I have transformed the photo to greyscale in Photoshop.
The composition isn’t great as the lampost to the right and at the top ruin the scene, but if I were to remove them it would also clip off the Pin Hole effects and make them uneven. It’s a glorious bright day out so it goes to show how extreme the Pin Hole setting is. I’m not sure how I feel about this – the jury is still out. I need to try it out with different settings and subjects.
